Moments after learning that Scott's father, Dallas, is the model in Scott's latest painting, he received a custom made Harley-Davidson jacket from Jim Burgess, one of Black Hills H-D owners.

After taking hundreds of photos, only one makes the final cut. This selection (seen here) will be the main photo research for which the painting is based. Other close-up photo's may also be used as reference for detail.
Scott's apprentice, Jeff Jenkins, prepares for the project by stretching Belgian Linen canvas on 36 x 54 heavy duty stretcher bars.
Scott uses a 8H pencil to prepare the canvas. He then uses templates and rulers to make sure the drawing is precise and to scale.
Scott uses a toothbrush to splatter paint onto the painting to give the ground texture and depth.
